The Shaler Rotary club participated in a charity cornhole hole tournament at North Park to support our friends in neighboring Northern Allegheny and Quaker Valley Rotary clubs. The Shaler Rotary club secured a matching grant and donated $5000 to the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative. This program was established to assist district students and their siblings in need of weekend food supplies. It was established in 2014 at the Shaler Area Middle School. Shaler Rotarians proved that many hands make light work as they finished their service project to replace worn cushions and chair backs and seats at apartments at the Hearth Home.
Shaler Area Rotary club teamed up with Variety the Children’s Charity to donate an adaptive bike to a local child. The presentation took place at the University of Pittsburgh.
Mt Royal VFW 9199 hosted Boy Scout Troop 138 who did a fantastic job with a flag retirement ceremony. Many of the flags were collected by the Shaler Area and Northern Allegheny Rotary clubs. It was a great collaboration among three great organizations.
