Shaler Area Rotary club donates to local charities and food banks

Despite the challenges of the pandemic and quarantine, the Shaler Area Rotary Club remains focused on serving the local community. The club continues to meet every other Wednesday at 7:00PM for Zoom meetings
and has focused on projects to address food shortages and to support local food banks. The Rotary club recently donated $15,000 to local charities with a $2500 donation each to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, North Hills Community Outreach, Elfinwild Meals on Wheels, Network of Hope, Anchor Point Ministries, and Christ Lutheran Church in Millvale. The club has applied for a matching grant to support the Shaler Backpack Initiative which provides weekend food for district students. Rotarian Beth Hastings secured a district grant for $500 and she personally bought and delivered needed items to the Bread of Life food pantry and North Hills Community out reach.
