Today at Rotary

Benze’s Blue Goose Saloon hosted tonight’s meeting and we had a great time with good food and friends. We had an after action report on our annual charity fundraiser which was a great success thanks to all of our sponsors and teams that joined us. We raised $20,000 to fund our scholarship program, donations to the Shaler Backpack Initiative, and summer camp scholarships and will allow us to plan additional community service projects. October 24th is World Polio Day. Rotary International has been at the heart of the fight against polio ever since it’s first service project in the Philippines in 1979 with a successful project immunizing six million children. In 1989, Rotary joined forces with the World Health Organization to launch the Global Polio Eradication Initiative along with Unicef and the US Centers for Disease Control. Through these efforts over the years nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries have been protected from this paralyzing disease. These effort have been so successful that today there are only two countries where polio remains endemic. Our club supports Rotary Internationals goal for a Polio free world and we have pledged a $500 donation to support the Polio Plus fund.
